I Saw Miike Snow at the 02 in Oxford, good band but lots of build up with not much dropage.

Luckily there are more miike snow remixes than you can shake a Swedish Ice Hockey player at.

Only a few days till the next Noise Ban and it's set to be a bang-face party to get the summer started.

Here are some tunes to listen to while you practice your disco lunges:

Face Melter by the Northern Irish rude boys The Japanese Popstars, may not melt your face but it will hoof you right in the ears.

Fans of wobbley bass will enjoy Excision & DatsiK's rumbling track Swagga.

If you fancy something a bit smoother to get down to try Lorenz Rhode's Remix of Breakin' by Strip Steve.

I know some people are getting all worked up about politics at the moment, with lots of folks unimpressed with the election results. Don't worry about bugdget cuts, taxes and deficits, because the summer is on it's way and it's less than two weeks till the next Noise Ban. Here are some chilled tracks to listen to under the blue May sky...

Kicking things off is Gil Scott-Heron, this guy started of as a poet in the 70's and inspired a lot of the hip-hop which followed. He is most famous for the poem/song The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. This track is from the album I'm New Here, released earlier this year:

Emmy The Great is a little more folky than I normally listen to, but there is something interesting about their sound, they really remind me of Belle and Sebastian:

To really get you in the summer mood, we'll finish with Shuggie Otis. This 70's track, Strawberry Letter 23 is named after the perfumed notes Shuggie's girlfriend would send him: (I don't know who the guy in the frame below is, I don't think it's Shuggie)

I have to confess, I don't have an Encyclopedic knowledge of all good music ever made, I heard Emmy The Great and Shuggie Otis on the excellent radio show Adam Buxton's Big Mixtape, check it out if you get the chance.

Noise Ban!

The next Noise Ban will be at Cocomo,on Friday the 28th May (Bank Holidaaay!) We will be on the decks from 7 till late, bringing you music from around the world. It will be FREE ENTRY all night so there is no excuse for not coming down to shake your booty. Check out the facebook group here. More details to follow...

Hej hej.

We are sorting out our next night at the moment, with some possible treats in store, I'll tell you more about that soon. For the time being you'll have to be satisfied with some tunes.

Last week I saw LCD soundsystem at Brixton Academy and they rocked. The sound quality wasn't great and it was difficult to hear the vocals but you couldn't fault LCD soundsystem for energy and atmosphere. Their new album isn't out till next month but you can hear the whole thing for free on the official LCD soundsystem website. The first time I listened to it I wasn't sure, but it is a definte grower. Slagsmålsklubben are an interesting Swedish band who appeared on last years Kitsuné Maison Compilation 8. I think these two videos are a few years old, but I couldn't resist sharing them.





In a totaly different musical direction Cypress Hill have also got a new album out, you can listen to it on their website for free. I can imagine it's not everyones cup of tea, but I quite like it, especially the track Armada Latina, which has quite a summer vibe and really steps away from the rest of the tracks, check out the video here. I can't mention Cypress Hill without a link to Rock Superstar.

It looks like the next noise_ban will be even bigger than the last one. We will give you some more details, as soon as we confirm the date.
