Selling outs the new selling in...

Sigur Ross, the xx, phoenix; all good bands with unbelievably great albums. You know- the kind of album you can put on and just slip into a dream staring at the wall in front of you for the whole duration not even aware.

All good bands, with great albums that have been ruined by being mercilessly over played. Last week I was arguing that it is an inevitability that good songs on good albums will rise to the top before falling off the top and into the laps of bar managers, advertisers and every radio DJ ever.

Well, I'm not actually sure it is totally inevitable. I think that first they probably had to have signed to a major record label and/or sold the rights to that amazing song on that amazing album which you hold so dear.

Enter centre stage: Mojave 3 with their 2003 Album Spoon and Rafter:

(Blue Bird of Happiness EP Version)

As far as I'm aware, NOT selloutpussyassbitches.

(Hard to miss you)

So as they didn't sell out and instead kept it independent with 4AD lets all buy their albums until it gets big enough for them to to be used in Nike commercials.

(Between the bars)

Not that I'm blaming bands for making (loads of) money, I'd sell out faster than corned beef in a well mannered yet horrific post apocalyptic dooms day scenario.
Also, I'm not saying phoenix ever professed to be anything other than lovely lovely French pop.

Basically what I'm saying is Mojave 3 are hugely under rated, proper good and you should buy all their albums ever. (amazon) (groves-inc)
